BIO

New artist, Jac Thompson is a Nashville-based, independent singer/songwriter releasing her debut single “Pull My Chute” on 9/9/22 in anticipation of her 7-song record, releasing in 2023.

"Pull My Chute" (9/9 release) blurs the line between digital sound design and manipulated acoustic instruments, creating a unique soundscape beneath Thompson’s self-assured vocal. Inspired by the likes of Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and Randy Newman, Jac Thompson takes center stage with her debut in the ALT/indie songwriting scene. Thompson is an independent artist, producer, writer, and multi-instrumentalist. Self-proclaimed “long-game player,“ Thompson looks ahead to begin her second album and a debut record tour in the summer of 2023.

DEBUT SINGLE: “PULL MY CHUTE”

9/9/22

“Pull My Chute,” the first of three singles in anticipation of Thompson’s debut record, releases on September 9, 2022.

World class players make up the lush soundscape via underutilized instruments in the ALT/INDIE world: doubled fretless bass, clarinet stacks, digital sound design, organ, and backing vocals stacked to emulate an acoustic vocoder.

Lyrically, “Pull My Chute” reckons with self discovery in a post-coming-of-age world. In Thompson’s words,

Co-producers Logan Matheny & Jac Thompson at Sound Emporium Studio A in Nashville, TN.

“This song feels like a step off the ledge to release. Someone told me, ‘if a track feels too vulnerable, you’ve found your first single’. When I write, I usually point the camera at another character in the song. “Pull My Chute” is less about asking someone else for help, and more about what you think about yourself.”

Thompson co-produced the record with producer / tracking & mixing engineer, Logan Matheny, at Sound Emporium Studio A and Big Light Studios. Logan Matheny and Jac Thompson collaborated on the entirety of the upcoming, 7-song project.
